"Miami Nights is my first full length CD, which is a big thing for me. I’ve now spent a considerable amount of time working on it, and i’m so excited for everyone to hear what it sounds like. I’m releasing it as a free download on Monday, June 10th.
The idea first came from a song I made about 4 months ago. While I was working on it, all I could picture was this drug dealer, in Miami, in the eighties, wearing a white suit and a pink t shirt. From that, I realised i had a clear vision of what my image of Miami, – where i’ve never been -, in the eighties, – when i was not alive -, was like. So I tried to show that with this mixtape. I was running in circles with my LP i’ve been working on for a while, and I thought it would be a good break from it to just let myself sample everything i want, and release it for free. On the mixtape, every song has a different feel, but they all follow this vision of a GTA like character driving a testa rosa in the middle of the night, in Miami. Some tracks talk about love, some others talk about struggling in the music industry, and some others are simple instrumentals that I think say as much as the sung songs. Being able to sample virtually anything was great, but also very challenging, because I had to choose the right songs from an infinity of choices. Mostly, it’s stuff from the eighties, but I also sampled some of the more recent stuff I liked and added three originals I wrote for the occasion.
I mixed the album myself, and the mastering was very well done by a long time friend of mine, Jeff Solignat at Strictly East. My lovely mom, who’s a DJ and a sound designer, and my main inspiration helped me with the track listing. The full release is set on Monday, the 10th, and If you like french touch, electro funk, and happy summer music, I think you’ll enjoy this CD."
