The world’s leading DJ, David Guetta premieres the video for the behind the scenes feature on his new single “Play Hard” featuring Akon and Ne-Yo on VEVO. In the new video we meet his collaborators, Ne-Yo and Akon, get a further insight into the concept behind the video and meet some of the talented dancers who came from across the globe to film it in Mexico City.
“Play Hard” is the latest in a string of global hits from Guetta’s acclaimed album ‘Nothing But The Beat’, and is the ninth single from the 2011 release. In the video for new single ‘Play Hard’ featuring Ne-Yo and Akon, Guetta takes us on a unique journey through a sub-culture, shot in Mexico with pointy-toed cowboys, in one of his best and most intriguing videos to date. The video is directed by Andreas Nilsson (2 Chainz, Yeasayer and MGMT).
“This was a passion project for me and everyone on set,“ said David Guetta. “Music brings people together. Every dancer moved in a unique way but what they all had in common was spirit and a positive approach to the video.”
“I love Mexico, I chose to play on the beach there on NYE this year and the energy was second to none! I also played at Azteca stadium this year and that was one of the best gigs of my career. The diverse culture along with the passionate and beautiful people are so inspiring which is why I chose to have Mexican dancers in the video and to shoot in the Capital City. Each character has a real true story which we filmed and are able to show how they live for their passion in this behind the scenes docu-series. Natalie works hard and dances hard for her passion, the ‘pointy boots crew’ are for real, they live for their passion and Ariel who beat my friends’ Les Twins in the dance of got to see his dream to be in a video come true. He dances all day and got to see how hard work can truly pay off,” continued Guetta.
Like the hook from “Play Hard,” Guetta likes to work hard…play hard. Never one to rest on his laurels, he has continued his non-stop DJ tour of the globe. After wrapping the South American leg of sold out dates – which included playing to 2 million fans in Brazil and also making history by becoming the first DJ to headline a solo show at Mexico’s famous Azteca Stadium – he has just completed a tour of Asia which culminated in playing a landmark show at the Great Wall of China for the Great Wall Music Festival. He is about to launch his annual summer residency in Ibiza and a European summer tour, which includes supporting Rihanna on her U.K and Paris dates.
To date, ‘Nothing But The Beat’ has sold nearly 3.5 million albums and an astonishing 25 million singles worldwide since its release in August, 2011.
